There are many web-based resources that a transition specialist can use to help YTP students learn more about their preferences, interests, aptitudes, and vocational goals. These same websites can also help a transition specialist learn more about the world of occupations and employment.
As an initial step, best practice in transition planning also includes Community Mapping. For a great resource on this topic, go to: http://ncset.org/publications/essentialtools/mapping/default.asp
You will be able to download a *.pdf document (look in the upper right hand corner of the page) or sections of a *.pdf document on the topic of Community Mapping.
For Portland Metro Area Sites, volunteering opportunities can sometimes be helpful to build work experience. Hands On Portland is a great clearing house for volunteer opportunities.

The following list is a group of websites for students that are free and easy to use. Not all website addresses stay current and up-to-date and may change. If a link below is not functioning, please use the "Contact YTP" tab above or one of the other "Submit a Question" or "Post a Comment or Question" features on the website to notify us.
If you work with students who have low reading skills, you may want to sit with them to help explore the content of these sites:
